Mash-Up Talent Night: Your Friday Afternoon Excuse

This Friday the first edition of Mash-Up Talent Night.
In times where we have more talents then arrived artist we've decided to give them a platform to spin their records, discuss anything and come up with new ideas an party's. We want to see more collaborations between talents and so called arrived people.
In this very first edition we hooked up a number of real talents from the Bootleg Dj Contest with some members of the jury and ofcourse the host himself, Shawn Rubens.
It's back2back all night long, with music so good, you wish you could hear it all summer long..!

This Wednesday three contestants battle for a place in the final of the month which is this saturday.
This saturday we will have a very special guest but later on more of that.
After Wednesday we'll know who has beat the competition and is the third finalist this saturday during the final of the month.
This saturday the moment is there. The Finals;
Young Talent compete for a very nice prize package, including a spot on the FFWD Danceparade truck on August, 8.
As we know Ted Langenbach is no longer working at Watt Rotterdam, but still he's in the jury for this final.
Is he busy with a new concept for a party, or perhaps he's searching for new talents..?

DÉTOUR Rockin' June, 5th

This Friday we welcome the guys behind DÉTOUR once again. They've selected the finest dj's from the rich and fascinating dj world here in Holland. With this selection two amazing b2b sets were born.

With these two gentlemen behind the decks it only can go crazy. De Bishop of United Knowledge finds his true match in DanceJudge Dave to bring you the most phattest Minimal and funky beats to take you on a journey to Detroit sessions.
We expect therefore a funky and innovative partyset most surprising of these two philosophers.

Patrique b2b Shawn Rubens
Straight out of Leiden comes no one other then Patrique. The man behind "Sound Travels" will spin the records together with organisator Shawn Rubens. This time he has to do it without his main man Ruhl, because of some vague trip to Thailand.
Expect exhilarating techno, tech house and minimal vocals to cut, stabs, atmospheres, effects. The tracks from Patrique will make you wonder why you always fly off the laces!

Delectric
This Bootleg resident which won the contest in 2007, is back on the DÉTOUR sessions and how!
This man spins the most crazy tracks and got mad mixing skills, and above all he sure knows ho to build a party.
As you notice, we can't wait any longer to welcome this man.

Martin Mussche
New talent always get's a chance in Bootleg dj Cafe, and also in this DÉTOUR edition.
During the contest of may, this man clearly attracted the attention with his skills on builing his set, nice long mixes and a feeling for the atmosphere.
Despite not winning the final of the month(lost with a half point to the winner) he was spotted by host Shawn Rubens and so the connection was there. This time he can do it without the F&*%cking hard jury..so bring it on!

Eigenwijs! Jackin' & Jazzy on Saturday May 30th

Their Back..! The guys behind the succesfull concept Eigenwijs are back in Bootleg. This time a very intersting line-up.
The first dj we can introduce to you is Soul de Marin: Starting his career in '96 he was an addict immediately.
In 1997 Soul de Marin performed in the legendary club Nighttown. From this day on he performed in almost all big clubs in the Netherlands: Escape, Roxy, Maastheather, De Danssalon, Winkel van Sinkel and Club Seven.
Also international success was obtained. Soul de Marin performed in Russia, England, Spain, France, Croatia and Belgium. 1998 and 1999 were his biggest years. Soul de Marin became champion of the Rotterdam SL1999 mixing Championship and he became resident DJ of the Beach Pop Festival counting 15.000 visitors. .
Now he plays this refreshing beats: Chicago flavoured House, Funky House and Jackin' House.
At this moment he’s working in his studio. Producing some innovative tracks and his first new release is nearby.

The second man we give a warm welcome is El Funkador. This man makes music so soulful even john legend would be jealouse. With his jackin' jazzy sound it's a sweet surprise for your ears. After finishing his first "Playectra Presents Funkbox Selections vol 1" we're now at number three and still counting. This guy creates an atmosphere on the dancefloor you'll be thinking back about it for a long time..!

Next in line is Ben Fresh.
He won the Bootleg Dj Contest 2008 with his suprising up-tempo jackin', groovy house sound. After winning the contest they came up with the succesfull evening Eigenwijs! Together with Mr. Post and Julio he turned the saturday into a jackin' house evening and not without succes.
Recently they had Jack Division and it was an unforgettable evening! This saturday it will be no different so don't miss this!

He performed a few weeks ago during the dj contest and now he's standing with no other then Dave Noorlander, Bob Bishop, Shawn Rubens, Patrique & Delectric.

On Wednesday, May 20 WATT Rotterdam organizes another edition PRSPCT XL.
As we know the guys behind PRSPCT are well known for giving some good parties. This edition they've got HellFish and Bryan Fury. From Trasher to CurrentValue. They're all there.
The evening will start at 22:00 and will continue until early in the morning.
At 08:00 it's really over in the Watt and then what?

DJMOK is one of the 3 BM residents, as always motivated to play his records. Has seen his first ep released on Royal Red Records.

You’re probably wondering, just like every year, what to do on Queensday? Carefully read the following text to make your choice a lot easier for this Queensday 2009.
We would like to welcome the Queen on our "Bootleg Bordes", but unfortunately she couldn’t make it. Nevertheless we do have an amazing line-up for you. All the DJ’s from the organizations who organize wicked nights in the Bootleg will play. So we name the party: All Hands on Decks.
During this very special Bootleg (Half)Open-Air edition every organization will take you on a musical journey. This time they're going to do that from the "Bootleg Bordes" at the second floor as well as from inside the Bootleg. For the "Bootleg Bordes" happening we’ll have to go back in time, ten years to be precise. It doesn't matter if you’re in - or outside the bootleg, or somewhere in the neighborhood, you can't miss this party.
For all those hungry party people there's a BBQ going on in front off the Unie. For only €5,- you can eat whatever is on the grill.

Saturday, April 18th: 12" meets Bootleg Dj Cafe

Festivals are no longer sold out. The clubs have trouble getting their people inside. The public is ready for more smaller, more intimate places. Bulk is OUT! Exclusivity is the codeword of the moment when it comes to weekend entertainment. That's the main reason why we link our 12" evenings to the Rotterdam Bootleg Dj Cafe. A place in the heart of Rotterdam with a low capacity. And together with the great atmosphere we're going to rock your evening with a distinctive musical program with electronic music. Bottom line to visit the 12" night in Bootleg is the music.
This time the 12" introduce none other than Ohrwert. The Arnhemmer gathered worldwide respect with his release on Million Moments(sublabel of Sytrax Records). His limited Yesteryear CD was sold out within a week. You don't know his deep chords? Without an intention of withdraw, we can conclude that his work has the technosounds between Detroit and Berlin. We might compare his music to Rod Modell(Deep Chord/Space Echo) and also the legendary Basic Channel releases. We can guarantee you a sensational set!!
The second guest who will accompany us this evening is Mius. This man comes from the east of Holland, living close to the German border. Two years ago, this man brought his vision on the deep techno to Holland. He brings deep techno like we never had experienced before in any club. His concept "Reverberate" was a real thrill in the dutch clubs. His deep bass, dark strings and slow paces take you on a journey till morningsun.
Naturally, the resident 12" dj's are going to serve you three more high quality Dj sets. Three building sets for a strong variation in your musical trip through deep house & techno. A reason not to hook is not there. Because the intimacy and exclusivity is offered to you all for free!
