Winners of the Month:

October 2007: Ben Fresh
Ben Fresh His love for music and especially housemusic started at a very young age. He was an avid collector of mixtapes from early Parkzichtnights, and various radioshows.
When he reached the age of 12 he got his first house record. At first he mixed his tracks with a turntable and a tapedeck, later he learned from his friend Julio how to mix with 2 decks. His interest in electronic music kept on growing and now he throws parties with his friends Mr Post and Julio under the name of Eigenwijs! This underground project is hosted by various venues in Rotterdam including Bootleg DJ Cafe (every 3rd Thursday in the month) At the moment he tryng to expand his horizons by spending a lot of time in the studio, realizing his first own productions...and he is the first contestant to go through to the semi finals of the Bootleg DJ Contest 2008!

November 2007: U-Funk
E-max U-Funk is a true addict of house music. At the age of 14 he bought his first turntables to learn the skills of DJ´ing. After practicing for a while he decided it was time to share his passion with others and started to spin at local parties, parades and later on in some well known pop institutes and discos like De Tempel (The Hague), Manifesto (Hoorn) and Club Rage (Rotterdam).
After taking a break of two years, he has taken his skills to the next level by mixing with digital vinyl. Also he decided to enter the Bootleg DJ Contest 2008 to compete with other DJ´s and get his name more in the picture. His goals are to win the next round of the contest, make his first production on a record label and to achieve a residency at a club in Rotterdam.

December 2007: Roger Young
Roger Young Born in 1985, he was just in time for the electronic dance music boom of the 90s. But it took until the beginning of the 21st century before he could get started with his own turntables... While being a real party guy, you can always find him at the best underground parties in and around Amsterdam. Enjoying the music, but also enjoying to see the worlds best DJs at work.
He recently started his own Podcast, together with his friend Tommy Tunne. This podcast takes you on a tour from the deepest deephouse to the most minimalistic minimal. Check it out @ his website

January 2008: Daniel Julianto
Daniel Julianto Daniel's interest in housemusic was raised in 1990 by mixes like Turn up the Bass and Move the House. His musical taste went from there to the Thunderdome series in 1993 when he started to explore the huge gabber scene in the Netherlands. Still searching his musical preference he got in touch with techno through a mix CD a friend send him in the late 90's and he has been hooked by that sound ever since. He started to put more time in his DJ skills from that moment on, which resulted in several local gigs and and winning the January final of the Bootleg DJ Contest 2008.
One of the new added prizes is to play at the Dutchtastic3 radioprogram on Housecity.nl. Listen to Daniel's set at that radioshow recorded on 01/02/2008 here

February 2008: Jesch
Jesch Jesch's style could best be described as funky tech-house/techno with a twist of minimal. He has a big love for music and electronic dance music in particular which started at a very young age. Ever since music is his big passion he always wanted to perform as a DJ and at the age of 18 he bought his first turntables and mixer. (And he still regrets that he didn't start earlier) After spending many hours practicing his DJ-skills he has discovered and developed his favorite style of music. His big dream is to learn producing dance music and regarding DJ-ing to make his passion his work because according to Jeffrey there is nothing better then seeing a whole crowd dance (or even better go wild) on the music you are playing in which you believe 100%

March 2008: Chally Chabana
Chally Chabana Challenger has been buying records since 1991. His dad used to bring Challenger to all the big festivals, studio's, radiostations around the world. After two years of collecting records his father gave him his whole collection of vinyl. This collection was so big that he didn't know where to start. In 1994 Challenger studied engineering in Hilversum and a few months later he started making hip-hop music and started rapping. In 1995 his cousin Orfeo and his friends made it to Motown records. It really inspired a lot of people in the Netherlands and especially Challenger. Since 1996 Challenger has engineered the tracks of a lot of artists in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Barcelona.

April 2008: Alex Visser
ALex Visser Inspired by the sounds from Berlin, DJ Alex Visser started deejaying five years ago. In the years to follow he has developed his sound by taking a broad interest into many aspects of electronic dance music, many genres have found their way into his style. This style can best be characterized as a warm and deep mix between ambient techno and house with a recently added flavor of jazz and classical music. In each gig he makes an effort to cover the audience in a blanket of warm melodies and wooly basses. Two years ago Alex Visser started the Delft Electronic Music Organization (D.E.M.O.) with Sietze Akkerman, a close friend of his. Together they have played on many parties across Holland and won the Red Bull DJ battle last year.

June 2008: Gilly
Gilly When Gilly saw two turntables for the first time, she knew that she had to learn. She is currently 19 years of age and entered this competition with 30 hours of experience behind the decks. Her style is developing, at the present time based upon house, deephouse, minimal and techno. All together funky and groovy, creating a blend of warmth, melody and vocals. Gilly has been influenced by the Russian internet-radio-station Deepmix.ru, especially by Vasily BVoice. Her local influences include the housey sound of DJ's Khalil and Steven P, and the deep minimal sound of DJ Jessin. A few records that particularly inspired her to start spinning are: "Dinamo" (Nathan Fake); "Asanebo" (John Tejada); "2000 Flushes" (Jeff Samuel). Playing in the semi-final of the Bootleg DJ-contest will be her third performance in front of a live audience. In the near future you will be able to hear her sounds in the Bootleg DJ Café, BP 96 and more to be confirmed.
