Inside Look

First hand knowledge from electronic music producers

Always wanted to take a peek in the studio of established music producers?
Here's your chance! Bootleg DJ Cafe and the School of Audio Engineering have launched a workshop that will allow you a close look at just how well-known producers use their magic. The workshop will give you an insight of the producer's use of their favourite equipment, be it soft- or hardware.
Every Inside Look workshop consists of 2 elements: a part by a senior SAE lecturer giving you insight on audio software as it is thaught at the SAE and a part that is given by an established producer, showing his ideas and possibilities using his own equipment. On previous editions, Jeroen Verheij, Francesco Pico, Joris Voorn, Rob Hordijk, Gert-Jan Bijl, Legowelt & SAE lecturers gave inside tips and tricks in using soft-and hardware like: Fruity Loops, Protools 7.3, Logic Pro, Cubase SX, Ableton Live, ARP Odyssey, AKAI MPC & Nord Modular filtering.
Inside Look gives you the chance to get a look behind the scenes of successful producers. How do they use their favourite hard- or software and how can you apply this at your own studio are key questions during these workshops.
The workshop takes 3 hours and will be held at various locations in the Netherlands.

Where and When?

Inside Look feat. Alden Tyrell @ Bootleg DJ Cafe May 29 2008

Bootleg DJ Cafe and SAE Institute will organise a new edition of the successful workshop series Inside Look on May 29.
ALDEN TYRELL

The Inside Look workshop series continues with Alden Tyrell on May 29th. He will allow you to take a look at how his productions take shape, bringing his favourite and most-used hardware to Bootleg DJ Cafe.
Being highly influenced by tracks from the '80s electro and disco, his productions are always jam packed with analogue equipment from that time. That's why he will bring some analogue gems from his studio to this workshop including the Roland Jupiter-8 and the Roland 808 drumcomputer. The Roland Jupiter-8 was one of Roland's first professional analogue synthesisers and it has been used by many famous producers including David Bowie, Jean Michel Jarre and Duran Duran. The synth was produced in 1981 and was limited to around 2000 copies. It's huge and fat sounds are still unmatched by todays equipment. Come check out how Alden Tyrell makes a track on the spot, giving you tips on how to keep just the right amount of tension in your arrangements. During and after this workshop you will be able to ask Alden Tyrell questions to help you get the most out of your own productions.

SAE's Seth Matteucci will show you how to make sure your productions will be optimized for sound and balance, using easily available mastering tools. It goes without saying that mastering is the final step between the hours spend in your studio and making the final cut on vinyl or digital formats. All your energy and effort can be wasted if your tracks are not well mastered. Seth will give you tips that you can immediately use in your own studio to give your productions the right amount of pressure and balance where needed.

TOPICS IN SHORT:
